Community Day of Service

Solidarity, social responsibility, community. The Freedom Center joins union menbers from across the nation in honor of Dr. King’s vision of serving the community. Every year, the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus holds its annual EWMC Conference in different locations around the world.   This year was their 1st in Oakland.  The Freedom Center, along with the IBEW and OPEIU, came together to show our solidarity, our appreciation and our gratitude by giving back to our community. Forgetting ourselves creates a sense of collectivity within our respective areas of work.  If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to create a family. This day is focused on the building of a worldwide family and showing that Dr. King’s dream is not one person’s dream alone but a community dream.   Belonging to all the hands who build.  The Freedom Center was honored to join IBEW members, community leaders, elected officials and others to serve and build together.
