Rolanda Bell, Freedom Center student and youth coach speaks at the OGCC Graduation. Rolanda wrote her speech as part of the Ethical Leadership Workshops during the OGCC.
Asia Bright, Nseke Ngilbus and James Reinhart, Martin Luther King Freedom Center students, organize in East Oakland as part of the Oakland Green Civic Campaign (OGCC). The MLK Freedom Center was a partner in the OGCC during the summer of 2009.
Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center students participate in the Culinary Arts class as part of the Oakland Green Civic Campaign. The Freedom Center students participated in Institute for Community Leadership Ethical Leadership Workshops and were placed at Green Job sites. The Culinary Arts Class prepared meals for OGCC students and partners each day.
Gabriela Carrasco, 16 year old Freedom Center student, speaks after testifying before the BART Board of Directors. Gabriela participated in daily Ethical Leadership Classes as part of her participation in the Oakland Green Civic Campaign. The Freedom Center was partner in the OGCC along with the David Brower and Ron Dellums Institute for Sustainable Policy
Jabarai LaChaux, a 16 year old MLK Freedom Center student, hands out lines to a Ritual to Read to Each Other by William Stafford. Jabari trained as a leadership coach as part of his participation in the Oakland Green Civic Campaign. The Ethical Leadership classes were used by the OGCC to develop public speaking and community advocacy skills.
Luelekal Kassaye, Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center student speaks at the OGCC Graduation. Leulekal was selected by the Engineering Cohort to give the final report.
